Building Skills, Changing Lives
Empowering Youth, Enriching Communities, Embracing Humanity.
Who We Are
The Skill Acquisition for African Youth Development (SAAYD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO), not affiliated with religious or political beliefs, which embraces human solidarity and respect for the environment as its fundamental values.
The pioneer has been someone of vision and passion, in the person of Afolabi Oloko. Humanity is in his blood, and he has been volunteering for over two decades, working with various associations to support humanity. He believes in the motto “Support for all,” which has enabled numerous projects to be undertaken in different parts of Nigeria.
The free and selfless involvement of its members is established as a basic standard of conduct. To this end, democratic functioning, personal responsibility, human relations, and the pursuit of consensus constitute fundamental internal pillars.

Our Vision
SAAYD will be a benchmark humanitarian and development cooperation organization for sub-Saharan Africa. It remains true to its ideals, promoting comprehensive human development in the social, medical, health, organizational, and environmental spheres with the Nigerian people; with transparency in the management of public and private funds; working for equality between men and women; and opting for training that favours self-management of projects and their respective sustainability.
At the same time, it will foster critical reflection in the Nigerian society on the inequalities and imbalances between men and women; working in synergy with other NGOs and participating in social media, promoting active and critical volunteering, and effectively communicating the work carried out as a means of disseminating the reality of the Nigerian people, raising awareness about these realities in our society, and fostering greater social involvement.

OUR MISSION
Our mission at SAAYD is to promote sustainable human development across Africa by implementing impactful projects in health, education, science, culture, environment, and infrastructure. Guided by the motto ‘Support for All,’ we prioritize the empowerment of women, the development of children, and the power of volunteering to build equitable and thriving communities.
Our Activity
Cooperation and awareness-raising projects
We currently work in Ibadan: However, our journey began in Calabar in Cross –Rivers State when SAAYD partnered with African Child Foundation, and over the years we have worked in other cities in Nigeria. Our cooperation projects emerge from the exchange of information in various forums, meetings, human relationships—in short, personal contact. Wherever the spark strikes, we apply the method of initiating small actions that bring people together, with the goal of seeking maximum efficiency in the implementation of our cooperation projects.
For example, our work in Calabar started after a Spanish friend visited the city while he was writing a book and that was when he met African Child Foundation founder . The success of this humanitarian action and the trust placed in us has led us to undertake larger initiatives in the fields of production, social work, training, and human rights and specific women’s rights (right to inheritance), in a post-war context committed to definitive and irreversible peace.
“Support for all” is the motto of the Non-governmental Organization, founded by Afolabi Oloko in 2009 and finally got registered in 2017 and to raise awareness , with the aim of promoting values of solidarity, cultural diversity, gender equity, and social justice.
